The layers involved

I used some of the publics (Friends who voted on FB) choice of eye, but I wasn't happy how defined the eye looked for a zombie. So I shrunk the pupil and changed the colour to a faded gray. I also used the 'clone stamp' to give the eye a smooth effect. 

Then I used the 'dodge tool' to highlight the iris to make it stand out and look dead. Using the 'airbrush tool' on the 'colour dodge' setting, also with different shades of red to make the veins stand out, it also makes the eye look bloody. 

I then added another layer and spray painted it all black and then faded it a little to make the skin look like it was rotting. Again I used the 'clone stamp' to copy the blood from under my eye to also print it on my water line and line it up with the blood dribbling down my face, so that it looks like a bloody tear.
