Evaluation: Question 3

Q3. What have you learned from your audience feedback?

To answer this question, I have looked back at my audience feedback I have gained in September to March. I will also discuss what I have learned from this experience and how it has impacted upon the creation of my Zombie Horror trailer ‘INFECTION’, film poster and film magazine cover.

Class Feedback - My media class helped give me feedback on my trailer/film poster/magazine cover because they are part of my target audience. Most of the students were also doing a ‘Horror’ trailer too like myself and my group, so they knew what to look for in a Horror. I learnt a lot from my audience as they told me what to improve on my poster/magazine cover/trailer and they also told me what they, as my target audience liked about my work.

Questionnaires - To collect feedback from my target audience I designed a questionnaire to help me find out what is appropriate and suitable for my target audience. I asked questions such as Locations, Protagonists Gender, What type of angles to use etc. Creating the questionnaire helped me to improve my knowledge on what is needed in a Horror trailer.

Social Networking Feedback - Using Facebook and Twitter, I shared Film Poster/Film Magazine/Trailer to collect my target audience feedback. My friends and online followers are 18 and over, so me posting my products online is appropriate for them to see. The audience gave me back some good honest feedback on what they liked and what to do to improve.

Audience Interviews – Doing Audience Interviews helped me to study and understand what my target audience like about Horror films and what they would like to see in mine and my groups. I also managed to learn what to include in my 3 products thanks to my target audience.

Product Polls – To gather some more audience feedback I put together some polls and posted them onto some social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook. These polls helped me to know what I should do to improve my 3 products. Using these polls helped me to find out what gender the protagonist for mine and my groups protagonist should be, which was an un-stereotypical female (Brave & Hard Working).

I have created a gif using makeagif.com of two teenagers both aged 18. These teenagers are both the appropriate age for my target audience for mine and my groups Zombie Horror ‘INFECTION’. I used two females as the main protagonist for my film is a female, so they are most likely going to watch the horror.

Research & Planning - Survey Monkey

I have posted on Facebook a link directed to a survey I created to receive the public's view on my Film Poster and Magazine Cover.

Here is the link to the Survey.

Research & Planning - Official Film Poster

The moderators helped me and told me that I should change the Tag Lines font at the top of the poster, I agreed as the text on the old poster didn't blend well with the genre. So I have finally chosen a font that should fit with the Horror theme.

Before

Now
I really like this font (Aparajita) because it looks old fashioned and gives off a Horror vibe. I had other font choices in this similar style, but they were either too big for a small size or they were wide in size.

Research & Planning - Updated Trailer

We've Included:-
  • News caster report
  • Improved the title cards
  • Included a tempo with the beat of the music
  • Moved/added clips

Research & Planning - Film Poster: Tagline Font

In order the get the grade I need for my Film Poster I had to reconsider on the font choice. I went through all of the font choices I had on my Photoshop and these are the ones I liked the most. Next week I am going to ask my media teacher for her advice on which one looks the most horror-fied font.

Research & Planning - How To Improve

I have recently received my moderator feedback, and was quite pleased with the result. :D

Improvements on....

Film Poster

Change the Tag Lines font

Film Trailer

• Include an Establishing Shot at the beginning
• Shorten some clips
• Change some of the clips screening e.g black & white for the introduction/past moments
• Edit the sound bridge
• Add more dramatic music using Garageband

These are my targets for now, I will post some ideal fonts to my tagline, and ask some friends for their opinion.

Also I will be working with my group and we will try to compose a fitting song to play throughout the trailer. Also film an establishing shot for the beginning of the trailer.

Research & Planning - Deadline

Here is my groups trailer.

My official Film Poster, for a clearer image click on this FLICKR link. (The photograph fades and looks blurred after saving from Photoshop to posting on my blog, so I used Flickr to view the clearer version.

And here is my official Film Magazine cover with the protagonist, please click on this FLICKR link for the clearer version.

Research & Planning - Film Magazine Draft to Now

This idea I drew up on Photoshop was for a Film Poster idea, but when I was really struggling with coming up a background for my magazine cover's background I suddenly remember this.

I took a photo of our memorial wall to show the moderators what it looked like, but then i realised it would be perfect for my magazines background, as it looks quite similar to my draft.

And here is what my film magazine looks like right now, I faded the photo of the wall so that audiences can still see the protagonist but also what's written on the posters.
